A Whale of a Scale!

Noah's Ark. What image does this bring to your mind? A nursery motif? Cute elephants, zebras, giraffes and lions marching into a boat two by two? Well, think again. The dimensions of Noah's Ark described in the Bible are enormous: 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high. These are still just numbers until you see a full scale replica built according to the Biblical blueprint. This is just what Jesse and I did today, visiting the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, KY. Many cultures have a flood story in their ancient folklore. Even today, people wonder, "Could such a boat be built?" "How could people and animals be fed/ have fresh water/ survive through such a huge storm?" The Ark Encounter shows creative and practical answers to these questions.
Here is a picture of the bow of the Ark. Jesse is standing by one of the supporting pillars as a point of reference for the gigantic scale of this structure.

Jesse and I also visited the sister park, The Creation Museum. The most enjoyable part for us was the walk through the gardens: sunny and colorful, or shady and lush. Waterfalls and quiet pools were refreshing and restorative. That is where we found Today's Treasure: the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail feeding on the flowers. I left encouraged and uplifted in faith.

FUN FACT: The Ark is 2/3 of the size of the Titanic.
Food for thought: Do I need to look at something differently/use a different 'scale of measurement"? What is the big picture?

  2. Wow that is so enormous i just could imagine all the hard work Noah and his family had to endure. It took Noah approximately 100 years to build then 40 days to take care of all the animals. 🤗
